Officials with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services want employers to know they can identify potential violations of workplace safety regulations through voluntary inspections. Hayley Douglass of workforce services says the agency has added seven safety consultants who, at the request of employers, will visit the workplace and identify safety issues and violations of workplace safety rules. Douglass stresses that the consultants are not compliance officers and do not levy fines, but are intended to work with employers to make their businesses safer. She says the only requirement for such inspections is that the employer agrees to address whatever issues are identified within a reasonable time period.
