A 19-year-old Longmont, Colorado woman was rushed to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center last (Tuesday) night after apparently shooting herself accidentally.

Laramie County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Don Hollingshead says deputies were called to an accidental shooting at 2503 County Road 155 in Albin around 10:30 p.m.

"When they arrived they found Nicole Poveromo with a gunshot wound to her left eye," said Hollingshead.

Poveromo's friend, 20-year-old Chad Wanberg, told deputies that the two -- who'd been shooting .22 caliber rifles on his property earlier in the day -- were sitting in a pickup smoking cigarettes when the rifle Poveromo was handling discharged.

"Currently she's in ICU, but we do not have an update at this time about her condition," said Hollingshead.

Hollingshead says they're investigating, but don't suspect foul play.
