A single vehicle crash on Sunday resulted in the death of 26 year old Rebecca Carlson of Fountain, Colorado. Carlson was a passenger in a small sedan that was being driven by 31 year old Mark Ticehurst who is also from Fountain. The crash happened at 10:05 p.m. on Interstate 25 approximately 15 miles south of Buffalo, Wyoming.

The car was southbound on I 25 and drifted off of the right side of the roadway towards the ditch. The car struck a delineator post before Ticehurst overcorrected to the left causing the vehicle to slide across the southbound lanes of I 25 and into the median. The car was overcorrected a second time before it tripped and rolled one and one-half times. Rebecca Carlson, who was not buckled in, and a five year old child, who was in a booster seat but improperly restrained, were both ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Rebecca Carlson was initially taken to Johnson County Healthcare Center in Buffalo and then flown to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper where she died.

Mr. Ticehurst, who was wearing his seat belt, and the five year old child were also taken to Johnson County Healthcare Center and hospitalized. The status of their injuries are unknown.

Driver fatigue and inattention are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash. Ticehurst has been cited for improper lane use and child not properly restrained. Rebecca Carlson is the 49th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015. There were 53 fatalities during this same time period in 2014.
