With Spring arriving, we know that means construction season as well. Here are some things to look for and think about as the orange cones begin to pop up in Cheyenne.  Today on the Top 5 at 7:45, I'll highlight some warnings and observations to be thinking about as the construction season gets under way here in Cheyenne and around the region. Please drive slow and be careful.

  1. Stay Alert - Take all warning signs seriously and keep an eye on flaggers on the road. They will endeavor to get you through the work zone carefully.
  2. Headlights - Turn on your head lights through work zones, even during the day. This is not for you to see, but for you to be seen.
  3. Time - If you know you'll be driving through a work zone, with no way around it, give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination. Leave early and get there safe.
  4. Avoid Distraction - Stay off your cell phone, fiddling with the radio and other distractions so you can pay attention to what's happening in those work zones.
  5. Patience - Be patient and keep an eye on any and all WYDOT workers as well as other vehicles on the road.

The Top 5 at 7:45 airs weekdays with me, Gary Freeman and sponsored by First Education Federal Credit Union. Be safe and stay alert during this construction season.
