The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the area between Cheyenne and Laramie for Thursday morning.

The service posted this statement on its website early Thursday:

"A band of moderate to locally heavy snow is setting up along the I-80 corridor between Laramie and Cheyenne early this morning. This activity may produce several inches of snow through mid-morning, resulting in icy/snow covered roads and very low visibilities at times. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 AM MST. If you are venturing out this morning, please check the latest WYDOT road conditions by visiting wyoroad.info or dialing 511. Drive carefully, and allow plenty of extra time to reach your destination."
