Winter weather is expected to hit southeast Wyoming this evening. Gerry Claycomb of the National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued the following statement:

"Confidence is growing that widespread snow and strong winds are going to occur across southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle Tuesday night into Wednesday.

A cold front will move through Tuesday afternoon with very cold temperatures behind the front.  Strong north to northeast winds behind the front could gust to 40MPH at times Tuesday night into Wednesday morning (possibly beyond). Should this occur, we're looking at near whiteout conditions for the I-80 corridor by mid evening Tuesday through late morning Wednesday.
Winter Storm Watches have been posted for the Interstate 80 Corridor from Sidney NE to the Arlington area from 5PM Tuesday through 1PM Wednesday.  This looks to be the best area for accumulating snow and these strong winds.  We'll keep you all informed on the development of this storm over the next 12 to 24 hours.'
