It’s back on the road for the nationally-ranked Wyoming Cowboy wrestling team Thursday with a Big 12 conference dual at South Dakota State.

Wyoming (7-2, 1-1) has won its last six duals on the mat. The 11th-ranked Cowboys face the No. 13 Jackrabbits. They are 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference after wins over Utah Valley and Air Force last weekend.

The UW line-up features five ranked wrestlers, including No. 1 at 141 pounds Bryce Meredith. South Dakota State counters with a probable line-up of four ranked wrestlers, including the No. 1 ranked guy at 133 pounds in Seth Gross.

The most interesting piece to this happens to stem from a conversation on Twitter earlier this week between Meredith and Gross. They squared off twice in 2016, with each wrestler winning once, but Gross moved down to 133 last season.

Responding to a Tweet by Gross, Meredith initiated a possible 1-vs.-1 showdown according to Flowrestling.org. They even provided a flashback to the two matches. Could it happen?

Even Jacks head coach Chris Bono got into the mix with his own Tweet this week.

There’s no word on whether Meredith would drop down or Gross would move up a weight. Right now, the probably line-ups have Gross facing another ranked Wyoming wrestler in redshirt freshman Montorie Bridges, who is No. 5 at 133.

Now even South Dakota State has gotten into the possibility.

Even Flowrestling.org is posing the question of who would win in a 1-vs.-1 showdown.

Perhaps the coaches will agree to make things a little more interesting Thursday night?

The dual is set for 6 p.m., Mountain Time. After that, the Cowboys travel to face North Dakota State (5-6, 0-4) Saturday, also at 6 p.m. as part of a difficult road trip for UW.
