41 year old Darin Westby was named the new General Chairman of Cheyenne Frontier Days Tuesday morning. Westby has a long background with CFD, including 18 years as a volunteer, during which he was recognized as Cheyenne Frontier Days Volunteer of the Year. He also served as CFD Concessions Chair from 2006 to 2008. He had been serving on the organization’s Board of Directors prior to his appointment as chairman. Westby was born in Casper and works as an engineer for the Wyoming Division of State Parks, Historic Sites and Cultural Resources. In assuming his new position on Tuesday Westby commented that the man he is replacing as General Chairman, Rod Hottle, had left him with ”very large shoes to fill”. Westby also said he, along with the Board of Directors, was looking forward to going through critique comments filled out by CFD volunteers to get their feedback on ‘what went right, what went wrong and what we might look at changing”.
