Enhancements to make Cheyenne's western gateway more welcoming to visitors should be completed by this fall.

The City of Cheyenne is making landscaping improvements to the south side of West Lincolnway between Interstate 25 and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe bridge.

"Very grateful to the Wyoming Department of Transportation for a $400,000 grant that is allowing us to make this improvement," said Mayor Rick Kaysen.

The project includes an irrigation system for vegetation, fencing and stone work.

"In prior years we made enhancements and improvements to the landscaping on the north side of Lincolnway," said Kaysen. "This is culminating or trying to make those improvements to the gateway from the west."

The city started the landscaping project in mid-May.
