UW Sweeps Games Against San Jose State
The University of Wyoming Men's and Women's basketball teams took different paths but both ended up with wins on Saturday against San Jose State.
The Cowboys (16-9, 7-5 MWC) tied their own conference record in holding the Spartans to a paltry nine points in the second half en route to a 46-38 road win. Pokes coach Larry Shyatt said afterward that's he's never been with a team that played harder or smarter defense in the second half.
Meanwhile, the Cowgirls (17-6, 8-4 MWC) topped the century mark in a 103-80 thrashing of San Jose State in Laramie, paced by Kayla Woodward's 29 points. The 103 points was the most scored by Wyoming this season and only the 15th 100 point game in Wyoming history.
The Cowgirls are off for a couple of days before they hit the road for a conference battle with Fresno State on Wednesday, while the Cowboys will host Fresno State Tuesday in Laramie.
