The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has selected a contractor for the first phase of the renovation project of the Arena-Auditorium (A-A).

According to a UW release, last Friday, the UW Board of Trustees approved a contract with Haselden Construction to serve as the construction group for the renovation project of the A-A adding up to 12 million in improvements to the facility.

The release went on to say Haselden will be in charge of the first phase of the A-A project which will involve a full renovation of the basketball court floor to pave the way for two practice courts. The University said the Construction will include a reconfiguration of the seating area which will have up to 500 added club seats as well as more possible space for media, and band/student sections. UW says the renovation will also improve the locker rooms, lights and video boards, LED ribbon boards and sound system, and life safety and Americans with Disabilities Act improvements.

The University says the construction is scheduled to begin in March of 2014 and be completed in time for the basketball season in October of that year. The project is being funded by the combination of private donations and state matching funds adding up to 12 million.

UW says the second phase of the renovation of the A-A will include an improved concourse level where the estimated cost will be 18 million for the project to be completed. No timeline has been set for this phase yet.
