Utah Man Faces Sentencing in Casper For Wind Farm Fraud

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A Utah man faces sentencing in federal court for his involvement in defrauding investors of more than $4 million by promoting non-existent wind farm projects in Wyoming and South Dakota.

Robert Arthur Reed of Salt Lake City has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and conspiracy to launder money.

Federal prosecutors say Reed was the leader of a group that hired phone solicitors to call people to invest in wind farm projects that were never built.

U.S. District Judge Scott Skavdahl has set sentencing for Reed for Tuesday afternoon in Casper.

Court records show Reed faces a possible prison sentence of up to 20 years on each count and prosecutors have indicated they will ask the judge to impose prison time.
