USA wrestling announced that the University of Wyoming’s wrestling program is now certified as a regional training center. USA Wrestling previously established the Cowboy Wrestling Club as a charter wrestling club. The new certification will allow Olympic hopefuls of any age to train in Laramie and compete in international competitions.

According to University of Wyoming’s Wrestling coach Mark Branch, “the distinction of being named a regional training center shows that UW is trying to grow wrestling at all levels, but specifically that we’re serious about the Olympic movement.”

Nationwide, USA Wrestling has been working with top collegiate wrestling programs to establish regional training centers. To be considered as a certified as a regional training center the University of Wyoming had to undergo an application process.  In order to receive that status one must also have USA Wrestling-certified coaches within the program.

Mark Branch is USA wrestling-certified and is considered as one of the nations top wrestling coaches. The Cowboy Wrestling Club will now be part of the Wyoming Regional Training Center, which will be one of 16 sites throughout the United States.
