LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A student organization at the University of Wyoming is helping to teach members of the public how to protect themselves from cybercrime.

The group is called Defense Against the Dark Arts and is made up of mostly computer science majors at UW.

Chris Bugg is vice president of the organization.

Bugg says education is the best way to promote cybersecurity.

Defense Against the Dark Arts meets weekly, gives presentations and competes in cybersecurity competitions.

The group is open to all students and to the public as well.

Bugg says activities hosted by the group are designed to make cybersecurity accessible to all.

He says people need to take cybersecurity seriously and anyone can learn to protect their identity and money.
