United Blood Services in Cheyenne has issued an emergency appeal for donors.

A UBS news release says a combination of the recent Labor Day Holiday, snowstorms, high demand for blood and some blood drives being cancelled due to government shutdowns have all combined to create a local blood shortage.. All blood types are needed, especially O-positive, O-negative, A-negative and B-negative.

The organization's Cheyenne office, located at 112 East 8th Avenue has extended it's hours this week to 12pm to 6pm Thursday and 7am until 3pm on Friday and Saturday. To streamline the process of donating blood people can now complete the required health history questionnaire online.

The form must be completed on the day of the donation, and donors bring their printed Fast Track ticket to the donation center. While appointments are encouraged,  walk ins are also welcome, according to the release.
