The Union Pacific Railroad has released a statement on a Thursday evening train crash which claimed the lives of two railroad employees on Thursday evening.The statement reads as follows.

"It is with great sadness that we confirm the loss of two Union Pacific employees involved in the tragic accident that occurred in Laramie County on Thursday, October 4. Employee Jason Martinez, originally reported as missing after the accident, was fatally injured. His body was recovered Saturday. Benjamin Brozovich was also fatally injured in the accident. Words cannot express our sorrow, and our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this difficult time."

The accident happened a llittle before 8 p.m. on Thursday about 18 miles west of Cheyenne. Investigators say a train, with Martinez and Brozovich on board, rear-ended another train which was parked on the tracks. Both men were long-time railroad employees.

Both trains were eastbound.

Two people who had been in the engine of the parked train got out before the collision and escaped serious injury. The crash is currently under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
