Two Laramie County residents were killed in a head on collision Friday evening about 8 miles east of Cheyenne on the I-80 service road.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says the accident occurred at about 10 p.m. The patrol says 39 year old Kyle Mitchell of Burns was driving west bound in a 1997 GMC pickup when his vehicle crossed over the center line into the east bound lane of travel where it collided head on with a 2005 Chevy Suburban driven by 51 year old Tonya Gregory of Cheyenne.

After the collision both vehicles were consumed with fire. Both drivers were declared deceased at the scene. The crash closed the roadway for a significant period of time as Wyoming Highway Patrol officers investigated the incident. Specialized crash team members were called in to reconstruct the crash and officers continue to recover data from both vehicles as the investigation continues.Troopers believe alcohol use may have been a contributing factor leading to the crash.
