An equipment failure led to a truck and grass fire that temporarily closed Interstate 25 near Casper Tuesday afternoon, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

According to a release from the patrol a 2008 Ford F-450 truck hauling a utility trailer had an equipment failure while traveling northbound. The truck stopped about five miles north of Casper, where the failure caused both the truck and surrounding grass to catch on fire.

Fire crews on the scene knocked down the truck before the trailer, which contained 445 pounds of compressed gas, could catch fire.. Investigators say the driver of the truck, 61 year old Gail Anderson of Ranchester, kept the situation from getting much worse by stopping the truck quickly and getting it off the Interstate.

The  Interstate was reopened by early Tuesday evening.
