Two Plains Straight Cottonwood trees were stolen from the David R. Romero South Cheyenne Community Park last week, according to Scott Smith, Projects Information Officer for the city of Cheyenne. He says the trees were between six and eight feet tall and around two inches in diameter.

Smith places the combined  value of the stolen trees at around $400 to $500. He says a third tree was partially dug up, but not removed. The trees were recently donated to the park and were planted last month by members of the 2010 and 2012 Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Leadership classes. Anyone who may have information on the theft of the trees is being asked to contact the Cheyenne Police Department at 637-6500. Smith says the theft is believed to have occurred between the evening of May 15th and the early morning hours of May 16th.
