A Laramie County Sheriff’s Department traffic stop resulted in the arrest of two Colorado Springs, Colorado, individuals. One is a Homicide suspect sought by the Colorado Springs Police Department, and the other is wanted for Parole Violation from the Colorado Department of Corrections.

Spokesman Gerry Luce says deputies arrested was 26 year old Preston D. Johnson, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, for suspicion of homicide, and 27 year old Daniel M. McBride, also of Colorado Springs, for Probation Violation in Colorado. Also detained were two females in the vehicle. They are being detained for questioning by the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The incident began Friday morning at approximately 11AM when a white Dodge Charger with Colorado license plates (later determined to be a rented vehicle) was stopped by a Laramie County Deputy for speeding at approximately Mile Marker 374 westbound on I-80 (approximately 3 miles west of the TA Truck Stop). As the Deputy made contact with the driver, he detected an extremely strong odor of marijuana. Additionally his K9 alerted on the vehicle for drugs.

Johnson and McBride were identified as being wanted in Colorado and taken into custody where they are currently being held in the Laramie County Detention Facility. The vehicle was towed to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department pending a search warrant.
