ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — A western Wyoming city with a tight budget has canceled its Fourth of July fireworks show for at least this year and possibly next.

The city of Rock Springs has slashed its budget by about 30 percent. Sales tax collections and state funding are weak amid a downturn in Wyoming's oil, coal and natural gas industries.

The Rock Springs Civic Center cut its budget by about $650,000. Spending items eliminated included $25,000 for the fireworks show.

Next year's show also could be canceled when the City Council votes on the next budget June 20.
