Thursday National Depression Screening Day
A Psychotherapist with Peak Wellness in Cheyenne is urging people who may be depressed to get screened for the condition. Jim DeMuth says common symptoms of depression include on-going feelings of hopelessness, feelings of worthlessness, and a lack of interest in activities the person has previously enjoyed. DeMuth says depression can affect a person in a variety of ways, including such things as decreased work productivity, sleep disturbances or sleeping too much, and a lack of ability to make positive changes. But DeMuth says people should know that depression is highly treatable through therapy and/or medications. DeMuth says he thinks the tough economic climate in recent years has caused an increase in depression, and he says people who may be depressed should get screened so they can receive treatment.
