A crowd of Several thousand people turned out Tuesday for the second of four Cheyenne Frontier Days Grand Parades through downtown Cheyenne.

Formal parades featuring floats, marching bands, and similar festivities date back to 1926, according to the Cheyenne Frontier Days website.

Before that, most of the ''parades' consisted of Cowboys on horseback, celebrating CFD with a procession through town featuring the firing of guns and the lassoing of spectators.

Additional Cheyenne Frontier Days 2017 Grand Parades are scheduled for July 27 and 29, both at 9 a.m.
