The conclusion of the 2016 college football season may only be a few days old, but that’s not stopping way too early predictions for 2017.

Profootballfocus.com is very high on the Wyoming Cowboys for next season, albeit with one major caveat. They have the Cowboys ranked No. 25 in "PFF’s Early Ranking of the Top 25 College Football Teams for 2017."

What’s the catch? The return of Josh Allen as quarterback for Wyoming. With Brian Hill already turning pro, Allen has yet to announce his future plans, and that will play a major factor in determining how 2017 turns out for the Pokes. The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL is Jan. 16.

Wyoming opens the 2017 season at Iowa on Sept. 2, but the Cowboys schedule will feature seven home games, according to FBSSchedule.com. Four of those are in the Mountain West, plus visits from Gardner-Webb, Oregon and Texas State are on the 2017 slate.

By the way, Profootballfocus.com has Alabama, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma and defending champion Clemson in their top five.
