The Warmest Days In Wyoming History

Here's a surprising statistic, the official temperature at the Cheyenne Regional Airport has only reached 100 degrees once in the past 70 years. Since they began keeping records in 1948, Cheyenne's hottest day was June 23, 1954, when the mercury hit 100.

Nearly a month later, on July 12, 1954, Casper set a record at 104.4 degrees. Laramie's hottest day was July 9, 1976, when the mercury peaked at 97.

According to the Wyoming Climate Atlas, the warmest day in Wyoming history was July 12, 1900, when the Bitter Creek weather station in the Red Desert peaked at 116 degrees. That record was nearly broken on August 7, 1983, when Worland reached 115. The next day, the temperature hit 115 degrees again in nearby Basin, Wyoming.

July 2003 ranks as the hottest month in Cheyenne history, when the average high temperature was over 92 degrees.
