If you grew up in or around Cheyenne, chances are you have fond childhood memories of sledding in the winter. With that in mind, here's our completely subjective list of the five best sledding spots in the Capital City.

1. The Hill Between East High School and Okie Blanchard Stadium on Pershing - Steep enough for a good ride, but safe enough for children, this hill is one of the best places to sled in Cheyenne.

2. Leo Pando Park - In between Central and Warren on Pershing, there's a small park in a basin. The tennis courts provide warm weather recreation, but during the winter months, you'll see kids of all ages riding plastic saucers and inner tubes.

3. North Cheyenne Community Park - Near the soccer fields on Mynar Street and Bridge Road, there are several mountain biking and hiking trails steep enough for a fun ride.

4. . Romero Park - Unlike most public parks in Cheyenne, there's some decent slopes on the south side. The park, located on Parsley Boulevard, has a 9 hole mini Disc Golf course with steeper terrain on the outskirts of the fairways.

5. Yellowstone Road and Vandehei Street - Across from Maverick store, near the entrance to Bar X Ranch, there's a good hill for children. It's not very steep, but it's close to town and easy to access. On most weekend days, you'll see cars pulled over on the side of the road as families engage in outdoor fun.
