Summer is here and, next month, thousands of tourists will flock to Cheyenne for Frontier Days. If you have family members coming to town, you'll probably want to put them up at nice place like Little America or the historic Plains Hotel downtown.

But what about that old college buddy of yours who just wants to party? If he doesn't mind a few roaches or the occasional meth deal in the parking lot, Lincolnway Avenue is lined with a bunch of places that are cheaper than the Motel 6.

This morning, I called every motel in town to see who has the lowest rates in town. Here's the five cheapest motels in Cheyenne (based on single occupancy, one night stay, not including tax):

1. The Ranger Motel on 909 West Lincolnway - It ain't classy, but at $39.00 a night, you can't beat the price. The online reviews are decent too, except for a guy who found a condom wrapper underneath the microwave...we'll leave out what he found underneath the bed.

2. The Lariat Motel on 600 Central Avenue - While it lacks the charm and sophistication some travelers may seek, you can crash here for $39.99. One yelp reviewer even recommended it...for anyone who doesn't mind a few blood stains on their linens.

3. (Tie) The Atlas Motel on 1524 West Lincolnway - For $50, you can be snug as a bug in your bed at the Atlas. However, according to several online reviews, you may want to cover yourself in insect repellent before you call it a night.

4. (Tie) The Firebird Motel on 3800 East Lincolnway - Based on Trip Advisor reviews, this is the 26th ranked out of 30 motels in Cheyenne. Evidently, picky consumers don't like it when the furniture is covered with cigarette burns. Then again, what did they expect for 50 bucks a night?

5. (Tie) The Fleetwood Motel on 3800 East Lincolnway - Unlike some of the other motels in this list, the Fleetwood has positive reviews online. And at $50, the nightly rate ranks among the cheapest in town.
