Local authorities arrested 10 people for Driving Under the Influence in the Cheyenne area on New Year's Eve, according to Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak.

Kozak says the joint effort included the Laramie County Sheriff's Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol and law enforcement from Wyoming State Parks. Kozak says at least one of the DUI arrests was for driving under the influence of marijuana.

Kozak says this year the PD for the first time had it's entire traffic division out on New Year's Eve, adding he expects to follow that strategy in the future for major drinking holidays such as St. Patrick's Day.

Kozak says that although he hasn't researched the DUI arrest totals for recent New Year's Eves in Cheyenne, he would consider the 10 people arrested this year to be more or less typical for the area.
