Highway Patrol Urges Teen Driver Safety [AUDIO]

Teen Leads Law Enforcement on High Speed Chase

A 17 year old teenager led a Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper on  a high speed chase that eventually ended in Idaho. Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Stephen Townsend says the juvenile had apparently stolen a car from a job site in Green River Saturday night.  Several hours later, a Wyoming Trooper observed the stolen vehicle, a 2006 Chrysler 300, on the western outskirts of Kemmerer on US 30 and initiated a traffic stop with it just before 11:00 p.m.  The driver of the vehicle did stop and when the Trooper approached the vehicle it took off reaching speeds of 120 mph.

Recent Rain Helps Soybean Crop But Not Corn [AUDIO]

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says a tractor trailer that was pulled over during a traffic stop over the weekend was carrying 231 pounds of marijuana worth almost $1.4 million dollars. Doug Randall reports.  The recent rain is too little too late to help the deteriorating corn crop, but has helped the soybean crop somewhat, that's according to u.s.d.a meteorologist Brad Rippey. Highway Patrol Seeking Information In Fatality On I-25

The Wyoming Highway Patrol is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect and/or a vehicle involved in a hit and run fatal crash Friday on I-25 just north of the Wyoming/Colorado line.  The patrol says Jose Blea of Pueblo ,Colorado was northbound on Interstate 25.  The crash was reported by passerby just after 7:00 a.m., however there was no witness to the crash that has come forward.

WHP Cracking Down on Impaired Riding

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says they will be joining with other Wyoming law enforcement and highway safety agencies across the State to launch an aggressive campaign on impaired riding. Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Stephen Townsend says during this time of year, we begin to see an increase in motorcycle use here in Wyoming.  As the number of motorcycles increases on Wyoming's highways, so does the number of reported motorcycle crashes.
