Wolf Hunt Area 6 Is Closed , Mortality Quota Reached

Hunters are alerted that Gray Wolf Hunt Area 6, the Jackson Management Unit in the Jackson area closed Oct. 20 at 2:30 pm.  The Wyoming Game and Fish Department says the area closed because the mortality quota of three wolves was reached. Wolf seasons close in hunt areas where the species is classified as a trophy game animal when the mortality quota is reached or when the season closes on Dec. 31, whichever comes first.

Special Access Program to Hunt Elk on Iron Mountain

Elk hunters who hold licenses in hunt areas 5 and 6 in the Iron Mountain area between Cheyenne and Laramie may apply for a permit that will allow access to a large amount of private lands in each hunt area access is available to holders of license types 1, 4, and 6 for areas 5 and 6 as well as holders of unused general licenses.

Game and Fish to Monitor Wolves

Beginning this fall, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will monitor wolf populations by capturing and radio-collaring wolves in areas of  Wyoming where wolves are designated as trophy game animals.

Deadline for Springer and Glendo Pheasant Hunts is Coming Up [AUDIO]

Carbon county officials say they are optimistic that a Texas company will follow through on plans to construct a plant to turn coal into gasoline by 2016. Doug Randall reports. Game And Fish: Take Precautions Against Aquatic Invasive Species

Wyoming Game and Fish spokesman Al Langston says with the  the warmer weather,  boating interest is on the upswing and with that interest, boaters are asked to take special precautions to make sure their boats are not carrying Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS).  Langston says it is extremely important for boaters follow proper precautions to insure they will not be transporting AIS into Wyoming waters. He says the  Drain, Clean, and Dry process is still the best method to keep AIS
