Wanted: Volunteers for Medical Reserve Corps Units

September is National Preparedness Month and the Wyoming Department of Health is encouraging residents to  consider joining a local Medical Reserve Corps unit. Angelyn Mayes, state Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator, says Community-based Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) units are a specialized, health-related component of Citizen Corps, a national network of hometown security volunteers.

Wyoming Supreme Court Hears Sheridan Teen’s Appeal [AUDIO]

An attorney for a Sheridan teenager serving a sentence of life without the possibility of parole for a 2009 home invasion killing urged the Wyoming Supreme Court to find the teen's sentence unconstitutional. Health Department Issues Smoke Warning

The Wyoming Department of Health is reminding residents, especially those with heart or respiratory problems, to avoid breathing in air contaminated by smoke from wildfires. Spokeswoman Kim Deti says small children are also susceptible to such air contamination.

Health Department Urges Hantavirus Caution

Wyoming residents cleaning garages, campers and other areas which may be rodent infested are being warned about the possibility of contracting hantavirus infections from rodent droppings. Department of Health spokeswoman Kim Deti says while hantavirus is uncommon, it is a dangerous and potentially deadly disease.
