Weather Helps Fire Fighters Get Ahead of Wildfires [AUDIO]

Rain and cooler weather has helped the fight against wildfires burning in Wyoming.
The U.S.  Department of Agriculture has declared several Wyoming counties eligible for federal disaster assistance because of drought conditions. Doug Randall reports. Click past the jump to listen to Wyoming Radio News.

Progress Made on Squirrel Creek Fire

The Squirrel Creek Fire burning in the Medicine Bow National Forest is now 51 percent contained. Fire officials says light rain occurred over the fire area last night and crews were able to take advantage of cooler and moister conditions. They continued construction of fire line on the south-west perimeter. Construction of fire line will continue today, with bulldozers and hand crews. Both helicopters and air tankers will support these efforts as necessary.
