Fire Restrictions Announced

Stage I fire restrictions went into effect on the Medicine Bow National Forest and Thunder Basin National Grassland as of midnight on June 14, 2012. Restrictions are necessary to protect public health and safety as well as natural and cultural resources.

Cow Camp Fire Grows To 3500 Acres

Burning in grass, brush and mixed conifer, the Cow Camp Fire in North Albany County continues to grow and is now estimated at over 3,500 acres. It continues to be driven by swirling winds, dry fuels and above average temperatures.

The fire is approximately five miles southeast of Laramie Peak and is currently burning on the Medicine Bow National Forest and private lands. State lands are also in close proximity.

Some of Wyoming's forests, including the Medicine Bow National Forest, are seeing a let up of the Mountain Pine Beetle infestation.
