Governor Mead on Medicaid Expansion

Governor Matt Mead says  Wyoming Medicaid Expansion Analysis  says the best estimate for the cost of full expansion in Wyoming is $116-$148 million over six years. The study clarifies that most expansion is not optional.  Mead says as "we work with the Legislature and make a decision on how to approach health care this study points out that some areas are not optional and would be a significant cost to the state from 2014 to 2020.”

Mead to EPA State Should Have Primacy in Regulating Haze

Governor Matt Mead told the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that Wyoming should have primacy in regulating regional haze. In a letter commenting on the EPA's disapproval of part of Wyoming's State Implementation Plan (SIP),  Governor Mead said that the federal plan would be more costly and without any apparent benefit over the state plan.

Yellowstone Implementing Trail Closures and Fire Restrictions [AUDIO]

Officials Extend Access to Caves Ban [AUDIO]

Governor Matt Mead  toured several of the state's recent fire areas this week. The Governor said over 4000 people have come into Wyoming to fight fires this year and the fire season is not over yet. An order restricting access to caves and old mines on national forest and grasslands in five states is being extended, so that a bat killing fungus won't spread. Doug Randall reports. Gov: More Wyoming Counties Designated as Primary Disaster Areas

Sixteen Wyoming counties are now designated as primary natural disaster areas due to drought. Governor Matt Mead requested these designations and the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, has signed off on the designation for 16 counties with 6 others qualifying for assistance because they are contiguous to the primary counties.

Mead Announces Cistern Program [AUDIO]

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says provisions of the Affordable Care Act cracking down on medicare fraud are helping to make the program more financially solvent.
