The Wyoming Department of Corrections has issued a comprehensive statewide release policy in response to an April 10th incident where an inmate was released from the state penitentiary in error. Amy Richards has a report. Wyoming State Forester Bill Crapser says wildland fires are likely to be a continuing hazard over the next few weeks and is urging people who may be in affected areas to be ready to evacuate. Mead Urges Fire Caution (AUDIO)

Governor Matt Mead is urging people to be very careful about anything that could start a wildfire. Mead notes the there is an extreme risk of fire right now, with several large fires burning in Wyoming and other states. Amy Richards has a report. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says he wants to increase the number of acres under conservation programs, no matter what happens to those programs in the final food, farm and jobs bill. A 700 acre grass fire that threatened homes and ranches in the Old Yellowstone Road area of Laramie County Saturday shows how serious the fire danger in the county is right now, according to Laramie County Fire District 2 spokesman Lew Simpson.

Governor Matt Mead is asking Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to extend the comment period on proposed hydraulic fracturing rules, which the governor says duplicate Wyoming's rules and are cumbersome and unncessary.
