Registration is now open for the Cheyenne Police Department's Citizens Police Academy.
The ten-week academy, which is free and open to the public, begins on August 5 and runs through October 7.

Officer Dan Long says the agency is currently four people short of being fully staffed, and is making up some of that difference by using the citizen volunteers.
Long says the ten-week course gives people the chance to learn how police work and investigations are really conducted, as opposed to the way it is portrayed on television and in movies.
