Kozak Says Progress Made in Fight Against Meth

 

Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak says the fight against methamphetamine is making progress both locally and across the country, although the chief says it remains a problem. Kozak says he has seen a study which says nationally the number of meth users is about half what it was four years ago. Kozak says local police are also seeing somewhat less of the drug than they have in recent years.

Kozak Says Police Teams Enforcing Traffic Laws

Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak says the department has teams of three or four officers who are working together to catch motorists who violate the city's cell phone ordinance as well as other traffic infractions.

Cheyenne Police Sponsoring Anti-Graffiti Logo Contest

The Cheyenne Police Department Graffiti Abatement Team will be hitting the streets full force with the warmer weather.

The Police Department is  sponsoring a special anti-graffiti logo art contest in Cheyenne Junior and Senior high schools this spring. Spokesman Sgt Rob Dafoe says students are asked to design a “logo” that sends a message of zero tolerance for graffiti in our community.

One of two winning logos will be placed on t-shirts, banners, websites and other highly visible locations.

Police Spokesman says Motorists are Ignoring Cell Phone Ban

 

A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says it looks like many local drivers are ignoring the city ordinance banning cell phone usage by motorists, based on the results of a recent enforcement effort targeting Dell Range Boulevard.

Police Investigating Gas Station Robbery

Cheyenne police are trying to find the masked man who used a gun to rob the Sinclair gas station at Little America at 10pm Thursday. Spokesman Sgt. Rob Dafoe says the robber is believed to be a white male in his 40's, possibly between 5'7 and 5'10 in height.

Shots Fired at House Again

For the second time in as many weeks someone  fired several shots at a south Cheyenne residence early Tuesday morning according to Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Sgt. Rob Dafoe.  He says once again no one was injured, although two adults were home at the time and several bullets pierced the interior of the home.
