July 11, 2012 Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and C-E-O Dale Steenburgen says his organization isn't taking a position on whether the city should purchase a property on West Lincolnway commonly referred to as "the hole". But he says it's clear that something needs to be done about the property.

June 20, 2012 The Cheyenne City Council Tuesday evening approved a $49.6 Million dollar budget for fiscal year 2013, which begins on July 1, 2012. Prior to approving the proposed budget, the council approved an amendment by Councilwoman Amber Ash to transfer a little over $279, 000 in money the city saved when health insurance rates did not increase as expected into a special economic development fund.
Following approval of Ash's amendment, the council voted 9-0, with Councilman Sean Allen absent,

May 18, 2012 The Cheyenne City Council held a work session on the proposed Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Friday. Mayor Rick Kaysen told the council that the total General Fund Budget as proposed for FY 2013 is $49,560,879 a 1.8 percent decrease from the original FY 2012 budget.
Kaysen said a challenge in the FY 2013 Budget was the loss of approximately $1.1 million from the state as a direct distribution. In addition to the reduced amount, the 2012 budget session of the Wyoming Legislature added language that limited the use of the direct distribution funds.
May 18, 2012 Cheyenne Ward 1 Councilman Jimmy Valdez says he is running for a fourth term on the city's g0verning body. Valdez, a local businessman, says if he is re-elected he would like to work for better planning of city projects as well as completion of those which have already been started. He cites the city's legal battle to obtain a part of the Hollywood Video parking lot as the sort of situation that should be avoided.
May 16, 2012 Amber Ash, who has represented Ward 1 on the Cheyenne City Council for the past four years, says she is running for the open four year seat on the Laramie County Commission as a Republican. Ash, who is 28, says one of her priorities if elected would be to improve the relationship between the commission and the Cheyenne City Council, which she says has became more adversarial over recent years.
April 3, 2012 Ward 1 Cheyenne City Councilman Jimmy Valdez says he is disappointed that it has taken so long to install new tennis courts in Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Valdez says it has been over two years since the project was first discussed, and the work still hasn't started. Valdez made the comments at Monday's meeting of the Cheyenne City Council Finance Committee, where he joined Councilman Jack Spiker in supporting a proposal to start work on the tennis courts, which passed the committee on a 2-0 vote.
