Sweetwater County Authorities Looking for Home For Boa

Sweetwater County Animal Control officials are trying to decide what to do with a five-foot boa constrictor snake that was recently found on a county road, according to Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Dick Blust. He says the snake, which apparently had been a pet at some point, was reported to be stretched across a local road on October 3. Blust says the snake has been taken to the animal control facility, which has a heat lamp and an enclosure to house the boa. Blust says officials are discussing the possibility of having the snake, believed to be a female, adopted by a school. He says the situation illustrates the dangers of exotic pets that either escape or are released by their owners, adding people need to think about what it takes to care for such an animal before bringing it into their home.
