33 year old Matthew P. McDonald of Knoxville, Tennessee has been taken into custody after resisting arrest and running into oncoming traffic on Interstate 90. McDonald was stopped by a Wyoming State Trooper for speeding 91 mph in a posted 80 mph zone at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday morning approximately 16 miles west of Sundance on I 90 eastbound.

Through the course of the stop, the trooper decided he had probable cause to arrest Mr. McDonald for multiple violations. While attempting to arrest McDonald, he ran from the trooper into oncoming traffic. It appeared that McDonald had time to avoid the danger, but chose to stay in traffic and was hit by a car that had slowed down, moved over and tried to avoid him. After being struck, McDonald got back to his feet, ran to the median and fell back down unable to continue due to his injuries and offered no further resistance to the trooper.

McDonald was taken to the hospital in Sundance for treatment. No other injuries were reported from the arrest. A yet to be determined amount of suspected heroin was located in the car that McDonald was driving. No passengers were present with McDonald at the time of his arrest. Charges are pending against McDonald as the investigation continues.
