Cindy Hill
Doug Randll, Townsquare Media

Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Cindy Hill, published a report Tuesday on the general status of Wyoming schools as required by Senate Enrolled Act 1 (SF 00104) passed earlier this year.

In the report, Hill called for establishing shared Wyoming educational values by Wyoming citizens, and a reduction in federal involvement and of policies promoted by out‐of‐state consultants.

Hill said she saw “extraordinary work occurring in our schools as I travel throughout the state.” She added ” we see time and again, that if left to make good decisions, our local educators know what is best for their students.”

In the report, Hill cited national expert Linda Darling Hammond, “ Most of the states which ranked among the highest‐scoring on the NAEP examinations are strong local control states that have traditionally not exerted much control over school decision‐making.”
