UPDATE:

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sergeant David Wagener says the deceased's current last name is Amen, not Trujillo and her latest address is in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, not Las Animas, Colorado. This was an WHP error.

ORIGINAL STORY:

An early Sunday morning crash on Interstate 80 near Pine Bluffs has claimed the life of a 32-year-old Nebraska Colorado resident, according to a spokesman for the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Sgt. David Wagener says Randi L. Amen Trujillo of Scottsbluff, Nebr. Las Animas, CO was eastbound near milepost 393 about eight miles west of Pine Bluffs around 3:30 a.m. Jan. 10 at a high speed when the wreck happened.

Wagener says Amen's Trujillo's pickup rear-ended a commercial truck-trailer combination being driven by 31-year-old Kevin Gore of Pasadena, Calif. Amen Trujillo, who was wearing her seat belt, was rushed by helicopter to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.

Gore and his passenger weren't injured in the crash. Sgt. Wagener says alcohol use by Trujillo is being investigated as a possible factor in the wreck.

This accident was the second highway fatality in Wyoming so far in 2016, compared to seven fatalities on state highways this time last year.
