The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities is reminding residents that the summer watering schedule takes effect on Tuesday, May1. That means watering is prohibited between the hours of 10am until 5pm through the summer months. Wasting of water, such as letting it run down the street is also prohibited, according to BOPU spokesman Clint Bassett. He  says a first violation of the summer watering rules will result in a warning, with a second violation carrying a penalty of a $410 fine. Third and subsequent violations carry a penalty of a $680 fine. Basset says the BOPU advises watering three days a week or less, and avoiding watering  on windy or rainy days. Bassett also says that if reservoir storage is projected to drop below 25,000 acre-feet before May of 2013, the BOPU may enact more stringent conservation measures. A complete list of conservation measures is available at cheyennebopu.org.
