Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen says increasing the minimum wage would be bad for the economy.

Steenbergen says one problem is that it would end up hurting the very people it is intended to help, since every time the wage is raised a certain number of low-paying jobs disappear. He also says that in most cases people working for minimum wage are the victims of their own bad decisions.

Steenbergen adds that people who don't abuse drugs, get pregnant at a young age, or drop out of school usually end up making a decent living as adults, especially in this part of the country.
