The National Association of Letter Carriers will be conducting their 21st annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive on Saturday, May11.

United Way of Laramie County spokeswoman Sarah Weber says the food collected locally will be distributed through several local agencies, including Comea House, Needs Inc., Safehouse Services, the Salvation Army and others that serve Laramie County.

She says people who would like to donate to the drive should leave out a sturdy bag containing non-perishable items such as canned soup, canned vegetables, beans, rice, pasta and other items that do not need refrigeration. The items should be left out by mailboxes before the regular mail delivery on Saturday.

Weber says that pantry shelves which are often filled up during the winter holiday season tend to empty out by late spring. She also says that during the summer months many schoolchildren who get meals at school during the academic year have to find other sources of nutrition
