CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A spring snowstorm has dumped up to a foot of snow and closed hundreds of miles of highways in Wyoming.

About 20 inches of snow has fallen near Lander with higher amounts in nearby mountains. A foot or more fell in the Casper, Riverton and Torrington areas.
WYDOT began reopening the interstates and some smaller highways by noon, although most roads are slick with blowing snow.

The National Weather Service says record temperatures for the date were recorded in Cheyenne and Douglas. Cheyenne set a record high of 12 degrees; Douglas set a record low of 14 degrees.

The storm is expected to end in Wyoming by Wednesday but not before leaving behind 6 to 20 inches of snow in many areas and temperatures about 40 degrees cooler than just a couple of days ago.
