JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. (AP) — Some public land around Jackson Hole will be closing this weekend as colder temperatures set in.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports (http://bit.ly/186iNOZ http://bit.ly/186iNOZ ) that designated ranges in Bridger-Teton and Caribou-Targhee national forests as well as Grand Teton National Park will be off limits starting December 1st. Officials say the closures are to protect wildlife who are limited in finding food during the winter months.

Some of the areas that will be shut down until at least April include popular river corridors for fishing and peaks frequented by skiers and snowboarders. Among the shuttered areas is a Bridger-Teton closure area that stretches north of the Cache Creek drainage into the Gros Ventre Wilderness.

Elk and bison hunters with valid permits from the National Elk Refuge will still be allowed access.
