CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Hundreds of miles of Wyoming interstate have been shut down by a lingering snowstorm.

Some 300 miles of Interstate 80 and about 200 miles of I-25 were either closed or partially closed Wednesday because of hazardous winter weather conditions and accidents. A number of other, smaller highways in southeast and central Wyoming were also closed.

Sgt. Stephen Townsend of the Wyoming Highway Patrol said there were numerous accidents and a report of one fatality in the Laramie area.

The storm has dumped more than 2 feet of snow in some mountain areas and around a foot in lower areas.

Unusually cold weather is expected to stick around after the storm.
