The Cheyenne office of the National Weather Service is warning southeast Wyoming residents to be ready for several inches of snow and sub-zero temperatures later this week.

Relatively warm, mild weather is expected through the day on Wednesday, with high temperatures in the 50s both Tuesday and Wednesday. But things change on Wednesday night, with rain and snow in the forecast before 11 p.m. That is expected to change to snow after 11 p.m., with wind chills expected from minus 5 to minus 10 degrees.

Three to six inches of snow is expected in the plains areas of southeast Wyoming on Thursday, with up to a foot possible in mountain areas. Western Nebraska could see 2-4 inches of snow on Thursday.

The weather turns even colder on Friday and Saturday, with actual temperatures reaching -5 degrees or so and snowfall expected to continue through Saturday.
