Six locations in Wyoming are finalists for Rand McNally's “Best of the Road” honors.

The mapmaker says Centennial, Cody, Jackson, Laramie, Lovell, and Sheridan have been nominated in the company’s annual contest highlighting the nation’s best communities with a population of less than 150,000.

Both Centennial and Laramie received votes for most fun town. Cody and Lovell received votes for friendliest town.

Meanwhile, Jackson received a vote for most beautiful town. Sheridan received votes for both most fun and most beautiful town.

Rand McNally grades each community on four criteria. The company considers the number of votes received for each town on its website, the suitability of the town for the selected category, the town’s social media participation and how appealing each town is in a video tour.

Winners will be promoted in a free smartphone application and will be featured in Rand McNally’s 2015 atlas.

You can vote for your favorite town at Rand McNally’s website.
